On my last day in Sydney, my friend Sasha and I took the ferry to Manly Beach. We quickly walked past the touristy shops to get to the sand and the ocean and then started to peel off clothes as the hot sun beat down on us as we took a walk along the water. We refueled at a cafe overlooking the strand and the water, indulging in enormous burgers.
Even though our walk was a short one, the Australian sun took it out of me and not even the after-lunch coffee we had at a tiny cafe could help perk me up. Before heading back to the ferry port, we stopped at Adriano Zumbo’s well-known patisserie for a slice of the delicious “Eric is Bananaman” cake. I passed out on the ferry ride back to the Circular Quay. I was so sad to leave Sydney and to leave my best friend who I had so much fun exploring, eating, sipping, chatting, and laughing with in all parts of her new hometown.
