I went on a gorgeous hike down to Empress Falls in the Blue Mountains. It’s in the town of Wentworth Falls to be exact and the trail starts at the Conservation Hut. My friend Sasha and I were pretty much the only ones on the trail when we started hiking at 10am or so. The way down closer to the forest floor was easy even though the paths weren’t so clear cut and there were a lot of rocks and steep steps but once we were down by the falls it was just absolutely beautiful.
We had the whole area to ourselves to take pictures and hear nothing but the water. To be by yourself with nature like that can be a very inspiring thing. The climb back up to the Conservation Hut was not so easy so we took breaks when we got to a flat surface to take sips of water or to look at the view as we got higher and higher. I don’t hike very much so once we were finished, my thirsty self chugged down a bottle of cold water.
The whole experience makes me want to hike more often and while I don’t have the opportunity to visit the Blue Mountains all the time, Northern California has some beautiful trails I need to start taking advantage of.
