When ideas for bachelor or bachelorette parties are thrown around, Las Vegas is usually one of the first suggestions but I’m now hearing more and more alternatives like weekend trips to Nashville, Montreal, or camping. Personally, I’m becoming averse to the Las Vegas bachelorette and its clubs, smoky casinos, and 24-hour party on the strip. And since I live in San Francisco, a relaxing bachelorette party in wine country sounds pretty ideal. Maybe I’m just getting older.
Over the last few months, I’ve read a handful of memoirs and contemporary fiction where travel and locales play a major role in the story. So I’ll have some book reviews to come that I think are great armchair travel reads – the perfect remedy to satiate your wanderlust when you can’t exactly leave town. First up is I Am Having So Much Fun Here Without You by Courtney Maum.
I wish that after every I hike I did, I could come back and relax at a villa as gorgeous as Villa Cimbrone. I could dine al fresco, sunbathe, walk around the gardens barefoot as I look out at the ocean. While that’s not my day-to-day reality, I’m so glad I toured the gardens of Villa Cimbrone in Ravello if only for a couple hours.
