A lot has changed since I first went to Outside Lands many years ago. Now in it’s 8th year, it’s bigger and better. The three-day music festival in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park has become a must for tons of locals and out-of-towners.
Even though the crowds are massive, it can be difficult to get tickets because you have to go online the second they go on sale to purchase a three-day or single-day pass, or a VIP pass if you want to get all fancy schmancy. And I am not usually that fast which is why I’ve missed out on the last few years. But thankfully my friend Dee hooked me up this year. The tickets went on sale while I was in Italy so I pretty much accepted the fact that I wouldn’t be able to buy tickets in time but lo and behold, Dee emailed me while I was away announcing she went ahead and bought a ticket for me! That’s a good friend.
I’m so glad we went. I got to see Cold War Kids, a little bit of Milky Chance and G-Eazy, Giraffage, and The Black Keys. The food vendors were amazing too – Outside Lands has it all from The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen and Rich Table to 4505 Meats, Tacolicious, Epic Cookies, and Straw, that last one selling the famous (or infamous?) donut cheeseburgers. I steered clear of that monstrosity but was all over Chocoland! I think the best part of the festival, besides the music and the food, is all the people-watching you get to do. San Francisco is not without its quirky characters in general but when they all congregate in one place it makes for an amusing day. Here are some snaps I took on the day:
