When the Moment Is Bigger Than You

There were many parts of The Lost Girls I could identify with but none more so than this passage here:

“Even when we’re in the shittiest of shit hostels or trapped on a ten-thousand-hour bus ride – I don’t know, I just love it. It’s like I finally found something bigger than myself to focus on.”

For me, it wasn’t the hostels or buses that distracted me from trivial pursuits at home but the views.

There were vast views that literally left me speechless so that all I could do was just sit there and soak it in. Sitting quiet for a while and gazing out at a gorgeous scene never failed to make me question why I would ever pity myself over or complain about petty things back at home. The view in front of me was always so much bigger and beautiful than anything else which is why there really are no other words for the pictures that follow.

Have you had a travel moment that has felt bigger than you?

  1. I think for me, every moment of travel becomes bigger than me. When I’m not in my own home town, caught up in my own routine, when I’m surrounded by people who live in a place and are going about their daily lives and pursuits, I am reminded that it’s not all about me. Sometimes I think we’re so caught up in our own routines at home, we forget that.

Lovely photo of Greece, btw. Wow.

    1. Hi Gray, I agree. When we go through a normal day in another part of the world it reminds us there is another way to live besides the regular 9-5. It’s very refreshing for sure.

    1. Hi Steve, Tikal sounds beautiful. I love being able to take some time while traveling and sit down and soak everything in. It’s so easy to get caught up in moving around quickly. I love your blog and the design looks great. Thanks for visiting!
